Clear Waters:

The thousands of cenotes dotting across the Yucatan peninsula were formed by the erosion or collapse of the limestone, opening up access to the groundwater below. Historically, they were a source of clean water and also offered a way to cool off as well as a place for sacrifices for the former Mayan empire.
